Guess who's back! Return of the blog

I’m alone with a blank page - I’m doing more thinking than writing. Sat in front of my laptop. Cursor blinking on my screen.

The thrill of stringing words and thoughts together, just for the sake of it, is really hard to imagine. I’m used to writing for a clearly defined purpose, and I think it’s time to disrupt that.

No heavy expectations of hard hitting journalism. No contemplating society’s ills for a feature. No first-person essay, interview or news story for sale. No graded university essay or job application. Just pure writing. Pure inspiration.

So I’m starting a blog and newsletter! For all the article ideas that never made it to the page, and for you to grow with me.

You can expect to experience my consciousness - distilled onto a page. This concept of a writing style that flows from your inner state is often attributed to writers like Virginia Woolf, a troubling, troubled and iconic 19th century author.

Her writing demonstrated what her characters were thinking internally, described as a ‘stream of consciousness.

Take this bit from her 1927 novel, Mrs Dalloway: ‘When she looked in the glass and saw her hair grey, her cheek sunk, at fifty, she thought, possibly she might have managed things better-her husband; money; his books’. Evocative is the vibe on here! Stay tuned!
As a key part of this grand return, my newsletter will spotlight the art and books that I’ve been consuming. There will also be ‘how-to’s, collage kits and creative ideas.

The Cultured Creative features bold visuals - courtesy of the art I make on @artbyfunmi, and the things on my mind across culture, politics and more. Are you in? Sign up here :)
